I said 2x2” thank you print for contributors… Turns out 2x2” was much smaller than I thought.
So most folks will be getting this 3x6” screen print.

Just a quick hello to remind folks I’m still here and doing… something. Not keeping up with updates as long ago originally planned… More relevant update soon(ish)!
A few pictures of Mama in her current state! (Including a snazzily put together “panorama”). Also example detail of her “skin.” Fleece suckers sewn onto the fleshy underside of her arms, with upholstery fabric on the other side.
Didn’t catch the video? Here are some quick facts:
-She’s currently made of many, many yards of muslin (affordable and so far durable enough fabric) and will be covered in her “skin” made of fleece/flannel/upholstery fabrics and fake fur.
-Six arms at 9 feet long and nearly 20 inches around
-Two 12 foot long tentacles…. so far. I’ve sewn more together but haven’t stuffed or attached them yet.
-With her tentacles and arms fully extended she is just over 20 feet long.
-She is stuffed with 40 pounds of polyfil stuffing
-She doesn’t have her proper fin tail, her egg clutch or any of her legs yet, so that’ll be something!
The video from before has all this but I accept that some folks aren’t super excited to watch me talk at them awkwardly for ten minutes! She looks longer in the video because she’s not all scrunched together.
Work of course continues, but soon an update on the rewards for kickstarter funders! I’ve finally (sort-of, possibly) settled on an egg design. It’s actually my screenprinting setup that I’m having issues with… but that’ll be resolved much sooner than later!
It’s really easy to get caught up in the sewing and not document the work. There wasn’t anything particularly interesting in the work so far, although attaching those arms did get a bit tricky. So I think I want to spend some time putting together her mouth next so I’ll try to take some step-by-step photos!
Mama “Update,” nearly ten minutes of “ums” and “ohs” because I’m awkward and not a very good video editor. So I hope you can put up with my jumbled ramblings!
Also the volume might be a bit low. At one point I say diameter, I meant circumference.
I’ll take pictures soon enough, so that folks won’t have to sit through my video nonsense!
Norkia.tumblr.com, you are the winner of the plush bunny!
Of course I want to thank everybody who participated in the free bunny giveaway and by doing so helped spread the word about the Vickangaroo Kickstarter project!
The great news is that the project was successfully funded and work on the monstrous Mama sculpture will commence within the coming weeks!
The first update video from the Kickstarter page!
Sorry for being an awkward weirdo in the video.
We’re there! With 5 days to go the Vickangaroo Kickstarter project has met its funding goal! Mama’s coming.
Expect a celebratory video update soon!
Hey folks!
I’ve got a few doodles on the tumblr, but today I built a rough, digital mock-up of Mama. She’s lacking any really specific details as I still want to improvise a good amount while I’m working. However, I’m hoping this gives everybody a better idea of what this 15 foot sea monster will look like!
Also, her back tentacley pocket is where the egg clutch will sit. She’ll keep them all in there, snug and safe.
Don’t forget to tell everybody you know to visit the Kickstarter page!
Help spread the word about MAMA and the Vickangaroo Kickstarter project!
